The operation of gas pipelines transporting hydrogen sulfide containing media from upstream and midstream facilities to downstream sites require special precautions, because even a minor leak poses great hazard to human life and environment. An emergency block-valve clutch is a key element of pipeline safety equipment ensuring automatic block-valve closing under exceeded gas pressure loss in the pipeline in front of or behind the valve.

Zeldin Yu.M., Ilyushin S.A., Plyusnin I.P.  A software suite for invalid data detection in supervisory control systems

The validity of data supplied to the upper levels of supervisory control structure takes on special significance. Even a minor percentage of invalid data ca result in huge process analysis and prediction errors. The most challengeable are the data erroneously considered as valid. In SPURT hard-/software system the challenge is addressed by including a special nonstandard situation detection subsystem. It enables the integrated feasibility and consistency analysis of gas-transport system’s variable groups on the basis of the known relationships between them. The subsystem uses data redundancy for detecting and eliminating bad data thus improving the validity of control decisions.
