Distributed control systems from foreign vendors

Introduction

DeltaVTM digital automation system

Emerson introduces the new 11-th version of DeltaV(TM) Digital Automation System. The following key features are described:

  • System architecture that enables effective application of DeltaV for automation of various-size plants (from 25 I/O points up to 1 million);
  • "I/O On Demand" concept which ensures easy connection of field instruments and final control element equipped with various communication interfaces including digital field buses, wireless and conventional I/O;
  • "electronic marshalling" technology that reduces footprint in equipment room, enables faster and easier installation and connection and dramatically simplifies handling of late project changes during commissioning and startup;
  • DeltaV SIS safety instrumented system.

The advantages of employing Experion® PKS as a unified platform underlying Honeywell's advanced solutions for industrial automation are substantiated.

    Obyedkov A.V.  State-of-the-art DCS from Invensys: reliability. safety, manufacturability

    Openness, design convenience, maintainability, interfaces with APC, MES, and ERP are the features increasingly important in present-day automation systems. Along with these, the reliability and safety characteristics of the new systems are expected to grow as compared with conventional ones. Against this background, the paper presents the design features of Invensys I/A Series DCS based on hard-/software from Foxboro and Wonderware and overviews the technologies and solutions which enable I/A Series compliance with state-of-the-art business requirements.
