Several present-day data import technologies for reporting systems are considered and analyzed for merits and drawbacks. The focus is made on Web Services mechanism and its application in data import subsystem design. The reason is that Web Services application as an alternative approach to information storage from external sources is not yet widespread and is now wrongly walking in the shadow of other popular data import technologies. The paper discusses the advantages of Web Services if they are integrated with various information sources from third-party commercial organizatioins.

The research undertaken in recent years show that energy conservation potential of Russian housing stock is as much as 40…50%. With steadily decreasing State subsidies of housing and communal services and prices increase, energy conservation and accounting is becoming increasingly important. Against the background, Bolid Scientific and Engineering Company has launched Resource Workstation – a system for automated accounting of resources such as cold and warm water, electricity, and heat.
