An adaptive PID controller with minimum number of output signal changes (PIDam) is offered. The adaptation process in the PIDam controller runs in closed loop. Simulation results of control system operation with this controller confirm its high adaptive abilities which ensure the identification of plant`s both steady-state and dynamic variables within the time much shorter than the control system`s response time.
