Protsenko A.A. Application of 3-D models in industrial plant design

The paper introduces a concept of a 3-D design model, describes its functions and determines its place in the traditional design process. It adduces an example of 3-D modeling in process of designing an auxiliary redistribution in the process chain of Norilsk Nickel MMC.

An automated control system for batching process

The necessity of applying automatic batching of feedstock or products is justified. The paper shows that the modernization allows increasing the accuracy of blending agents weighing and thus improving product quality and equipment capacity and reducing the effect of the human factor.

Leontiev V.N., Khmelnitsky A.K. Application of the devices with digital camera for evaluating the effect of cloudiness on whiteness fluctuations

Recent years have seen the progress in the development of measurement devices for monitoring the properties of paper and sheets in view of the emergence of machine vision systems based on the application of digital cameras for inputting video information and its further computer-based processing. This enables unbiased quality evaluation of paper and printing outputs. Against this background, the paper presents a research undertaken with the help of ANFOR-02-2 device, which evaluated the homogeneity of paper transparency. The study results help in making recommendations to printing and pulp and paper industries specialists on selecting the paper for specific printed matter.

Kargapol’tsev V.P. On energy energy supply meters calibration

The problems of energy production, distribution and consuming is connected with the organization of its reliable accounting based on the application of measuring devices, such as electricity, heat, and gas meters and automated systems for energy consumption control and accounting. An important problem, which arises while developing and operating accounting devices and systems, is the organization of their calibration. Some 10-15 years ago, the term “calibration” was known only to a narrow community of professionals from large industrial enterprises. The rise of energy costs resulted in extensive application of accounting systems: from big industrial plants down to shops, hairdressing saloons, pharmacies, and sometimes even flats. The owners of small enterprises or car workshops seldom know the term “calibration” and consider it as one of the legal ways to withdraw income in favor of the government. Another interpretation of the term, such as “sealing” the device for its further “legalization” is also popular. The paper’s aim is to get energy consumers and instrument owners familiar with the national system that ensures the reliability of energy accounting and includes the calibration of instrumentation.
