The paper proposes an approach to structural and parametric identification of inferential models for process plants based on robust regression and informational criteria. The parameters of inferential models are estimated by means of robust regression, whereas the best model structure is selected subject to information criteria. The inferential models (soft sensors) developed using the approach proposed where tested as part of the advanced control system at the gas fractionation section of the FCC unit at Gaspromneft-Omsk Refinery.

Automation of scientific research and comprehensive test

Pertsovsky M.I., Mickelson O.V., Rtishchev A.V.  Unified integrated automation system as a framework for test base reconstruction and upgrade at major industrial plants

General concept of integrated automation and modernization of industrial plant's test base is formulated and substantiated. A generic approach to the design of integrated multi-level hierarchical automation systems developed by the Laboratory of Automated Systems LLC is outlined. New modules supplementing the functionality of ACSTest toolkit for experimental facilities automation are presented. Case studies of test bench development based on ACSTest in 2012-14 are included.

Critical importance of the task ensues from the lack of any tools and techniques in domestic industry for the diagnostics of discharge parameters directly on a spark plug. This hampers rational selection of ignition system parameters, optimization of ignition processes in fireboxes and ensuring reliable start of an atmospheric jet engine. Such equipment is necessary for branch research institutions, experimental design offices, and research departments of aircraft factories involved in ignition system engineering, manufacturing, testing and installation in jet engines.

Hensel S.  A network for Industry 4.0

The paper shows that Powerlink protocol fully meets the requirements of Industry 4.0 networks. It significantly exceeds conventional field buses in data transfer rate and capacity, widely employs broadcast transmission, optimizes the amounts of transmitted data and adapts the cycle length to specific application. The protocol does not impose any limitations on network topology. It is a fully open technology and enables further capacity improvement.
