The paper presents a hard-/software system for controlling metal manufacture warehouses, including crane positioning and inter-aggregate product tracking systems. The implementation of this control complex requires the integration of process and MES level data. The system was implemented at the cold-rolling mill 2000 of Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Works. Its effectiveness is attained owing to the application of event tracking model, high-precision crane positioning algorithm, automated generation of actual warehouse map with its visualization at foreman's and hoistman's workstation and shipment or handling task.

Automation of Kvarto 2800 aluminum hot-rolling mill

Many present-day metal works still operate hot-rolling mills not equipped with modern automation tools. Their products are becoming less demanded in the market because it does not match with new quality requirements. Automated Systems and Complexes CJSC offers a solution enabling significant improvement of plate quality rolled on legacy mills by implementing a relatively cheap process control system. The solution was implemented during the reconstruction of electric drives and automation systems at Kwarto 2800 reversal mill intended for hot rolling of aluminum plates at Alcoa Metallurg Rus (Belaya Kalitva, Russia).

The paper examines a time synchronization information interchange protocol for distributed control system design. The protocol features data exchange organization according to a common time-table stored in each network node. The paper presents a computerized onboard system for driver's decision-making support on selecting the driving mode for maintaining vehicle's design operation characteristics. It shows that the system can be referred to as an intellectual one because it undertakes some driver's functions. However, the system is not a diagnostic one because it is intended for troubles prediction rather for their detection.

Known approaches to the design of process events identification system for recovery and vacuum separation of spongy titanium are analyzed.
