Automation of oil, gas, and petrochemical industries

Snegirev O.Yu., Torgashov A.Yu.  Adaptation of structure and parameters of nonlinear soft sensors with a case study of industrial reactive distillation process

With the case study of a reactive distillation process, the paper discusses the development of a nonlinear soft sensor with adaptive structure and parameters using clustering methods. The earlier developed adaptive soft sensor was also based on moving window and clustering techniques. The paper offers its improvement by means of alternating conditional expectations algorithm allowing for the so-called time factor. The improved accuracy of the new adaptive soft sensor is compared against the earlier developed adaptation algorithm without time factor as well as a neural network based adaptive soft sensor.

Keywords: soft sensor, adaptation, clustering, alternating conditional expectations, time factor, reactive distillation process.

Faruntsev S.D.  Developing a complex control system for oil emulsion preheaters based on a reference model and an ANN

The paper proposes to use analytic and experimental cellular models to synthesize neural control systems for oil emulsion preheating. It describes the reference model tuning procedure for PTB-10E emulsion preheater and offers the variants of preheater control schemes using the model developed coupled with neural controllers. The conclusion is made about the expediency of the further mathematical modeling and developing advanced and intelligent control schemes for oil preheating.

Keywords: oil emulsion preheater, disturbance factors, mode-aimed reference control model tuning, artificial neural networks and neural controllers, advanced and intelligent control systems.

Astapov V.N., Gashenko A.A., Gashenko Yu.V.  Fiber-optic liquid density sensor for oi refining applications

The challenges of inflammable liquid density measurements are formulated, the drawbacks of the existing density measuring techniques for liquid media are discussed. A functional diagram of the proposed density meter with a fiber-optic converter and fiber-optic communication lines is presented, and its operating principle is described.

Additive technologies for industrial enterprises

Tikhonov R.M.  “Digital” benefits: application of additive technologies at SIBUR sites

The paper presents the experience of SIBUR in applying additive technologies for component parts manufacturing as well as additive technology specialists training with the help of virtual reality tools.

Keywords: additive technologies, component parts of industrial equipment, specialist training, training simulator, virtual reality tools.

Dobrynin S.L., Burkovsky V.L.  Real-time monitoring of additive manufacturing processes based on MTConnect industrial standard

A method for improving the control of a 3D printer based on Raspberry single-board is discussed. The OctoPrint software integrated in the OctoPi operating system enables full-scale real-time monitoring and remote control of the 3D printer through the Web interface. The MTConnect industrial standard was developed for NC equipment data acquisition and Internet exchange. The paper outlines MTConnect basic structure, and describes its architecture including three generic components: process equipment, adapter, and agent. Key information queries from user application to the MTConnect agent are examined.

Keywords: additive manufacturing, Industrial Internet of Things, MTConnect industrial standard, remote monitoring systems.

Blokhin A.V., Gritsay A.S., Sapilova A.A., Potapov V.I., Cherevenchuk I.V.  Analysis and optimization of prototyping parameters using 3D printer

Simulation models are offered for estimating the quality of 3D objects printing using 3D printer and 3D scanner. The degree of conformity between the printed 3D model and its draft is estimated with the help of the non-contact scanning of the 3D model. The experiments were conducted under the changing parameters affecting the print quality. The numerical values of the optimal 3D model printing parameters were obtained which ensure the high degree of conformity and the resulting high 3D printing quality.

Keywords: simulation model, 3D printer, optimal printing settings, analysis.
