Lavrentiev V.A., Ergomyshev Yu.A., Golovina E.S., Komogorov A.V.  Improving the accuracy of quality estimators for 80-180 С stream from the main fractionator of a crude distillation unit

The paper discusses the accuracy improvement of quality estimators for the 80-180 С naphtha stream from the main fractionator of a crude distillation unit. The quality estimator models were developed using regression and artificial neural network techniques. A procedure for informative process variables selection was developed which enabled more precise models as against the ones currently used at the plant. The regression models were validated based on the least square method. Additionally, an alternative solution technique using neural networks was examined. The paper shows that ANN application results in more precise quality estimator model as against the regression techniques without preliminary data filtration and the selection of input variables. Conventional process control software does not allow wide application of ANN models at operating plants but this is a promising development line.

Keywords: regression model, neural networks, quality estimator, process control system, .advanced process control.

Puzanov A.V.  Thermal stabilization of drive control block for mobile equipment

Drive control systems of mobile equipment should be protected from overheating in tropical and subtropical applications. The paper presents the modeling results of temperature conditions of a drive control block. The results form an n-dimensional data cloud for the operation of thermal stabilization control system.

Keywords: driven subtropical equipment, cooling system, thermal stabilization, thermal conditions modeling.

Bordyug A.S.  Lightning resistance testing procedures for ship electrical equipment

Lightning is a natural source of powerful electromagnetic interferences and therefore may pose serious hazard for ship’s radioelectronic and electrical equipment. The interferences induced by lightning in electric circuits cause equipment failures and malfunctions. The paper determines lightning resistance testing procedures for ship’s radioelectronic and electrical equipment. Damage effect of lightning discharge shows as direct impacts or indirect influences on the equipment. Direct impacts entail lightning current passage through equipment elements, while the indirect influence is caused by the interaction of various-type lightning electromagnetic fields with ship’s electric circuits. For lightning resistance testing, the lightning current and the electromagnetic fields affecting it should be reproduced.
