Schwarzkopf V.F., Cubric A.S., Kulikov A.I. A quality control system as part of industrial plant`s informating and technology system

Automated quality control systems are getting increasingly popular in Russia/FSU and worldwide. The growing need for them is accounted for by the set of properties they combine, such as LIMS, large scale and the coverage of all production scope, and the compliance with ISO 9000 requirements. Against this background, the paper presents the design concepts of an automated quality control system for a modern industrial enterprise with the example of key workshops of an aluminum plant. It outlines the plant`s quality control system, control procedures and practices, key functions, workstation equipment. Software structures, functional blocks, external connections, and other features are analyzed. The direct system users are laboratory assistants, quality inspectors, managers and specialists of laboratory and quality control service, operations engineers and top management.

Andreeva K.G., Malyshev D.N., Nikitov S.A., Pavlov A.M. Raw material conservation problem in a CAM-system of a light industry plant

The paper offers a model including a methodology of rational utilization of raw material remainder and a sequential cutting technique which allow for production process features at a light industry plant. This enables the complete elimination of manual computation of cutting lay-out for fabrics with high spoilage content as well as the optimal utilization of working area and the coordination of the cutting workshop`s operations. The approximate parametric solution algorithm presented implements the enumeration of possibilities of gradings ranking and the parallelization of computations by building a computation tree. The experimental-industrial operation of the software developed demonstrated significant raw material conservation and drastic cutting planning time saving.

The paper describes the simulation and optimization of pipeless chemical systems used in batch multi-product chemical plants. The efficiency of pipeless plants depends on optimal schedule selection in view of the system`s topological features. A universal algorithm for pipeless plants simulation and scheduling is offered. The algorithm can be applied at pipeless plants with any topology.

Lopatin S.S., Pfeiffer H.,Liquid level limit switches. Physical operation principles and capabilities of vibration type sensors

The paper analyzes physical principles implemented in liquid level limit switches and discusses the opportunities of the most universal vibration principle employed in Liquiphant Level Switches from Endress+Hauser GmbH+Co. KG. It shows that vibration type tuning fork-based switches are the most universal tool for identifying any liquids or gases in typical industrial environments.

Tohme A. Scalable computing power of Beckhoff controllers and industrial computers

The paper lists the performance attributes of Beckhoff hardware: BC and BX bus terminal controllers, Embedded PC CX Series equipment, and industrial computers. It presents also the next series of CP67xx devices: a Beckhoff control panel and a panel PC integrated in a single package.

Ethernet in industry and in complicated applications

The number of Ethernet installations is growing nowadays in various industries, transportation, control and other complicated applications. The paper presents the HIPER-RING industrial network standard - a new creation from Hirschmann, the leading company in industrial Ethernet market. The application of the standard is illustrated with the example of Dresden airport.

Moskovtsev Yu.P. Application of Schneider Electric equipment in naval and shipboard and coast automation systems

The paper informs how modern sea crafts and harbor objects are furnished with integrated control systems. The tasks accomplished by those systems are implemented with the help of Schneider Electric hard and software. Structural diagrams of a complex control system for river-sea class dry-cargo vessel`s equipment and of a control and monitoring system for a bulk cargo transfer complex are considered.

An engineering evaluation of an outstanding XX century metallurgy project - the highest capacity automatic blooming mill 1300 is made in view of the 40-th anniversary of its commissioning at the Krivoi Rog Metallurgy Works. From the viewpoint of automation advances, scientific, technological and engineering solutions, the project made a framework for successive automation of rolling mills and continuous steel teeming units as well as for equipment unification of almost all USSR blooming mills during their reconstructions.
