Sosonkin V.L., Martinov G.M. A multi-agent model of an open PCNC-type numerical control system

Modern numerical control software looks like a distributed ensemble of software modules retrofitted for stand-alone operation and interaction. A model of such system’s software can be built as a multi-agent structure where the communication commands are represented as events in a multi-agent interface. The implementation of numerical control software on the basis of such model is beneficial due to the higher speed of distributed data-flow systems.

Radkevich V.V., Zolotukhin S.V. The experience of development and implementation of industrial control systems

Based on vast experience in control systems development, modernization, and implementation mainly in gas industry, the authors discuss the key design and implementation phases. The approach proposed is applicable to automation projects in various industries.

Dolya A.V. Internal IT threats in industry

InfoWatch presents the results of the first research of internal cyber security in Russian industry. 354 Russian enterprises were polled. The research objective was to examine the respondents’ attitude to internal cyber threats, summarize the information about the employed protection tools and technologies, and recognize the features of internal cyber security provision in Russian industry.

Klepikov V.I., Pashkov S.P. Model-managed design of process control systems

The concept of model-managed approach to the design of process control systems of power units based on fired-turbine drivers. The concept is underlain by subordinate Petri network modeling language enabling easy and concise process description, the accessibility for all project participants, performability both custom and universal development environments.

Shvechkov V.A., Sardanashvili S.A. Service-oriented architecture as a tool for dataware integration in a heterogeneous distributed supervisory control system of Russian Integrated Gas Supply System

The paper reviews modern computer technologies enabling the integration of heterogeneous components of supervisory control systems’ dataware in gas transportation communities. The variants of creating open interfaces to external information systems using distributed computing technologies such as CORBA, DCOM, Java RMI, .NET, and service oriented architecture (SOA). A structural diagram of the distributed computation network organization and of the computation network of the heterogeneous distributed supervisory control systems of the Integrated Gas Supply System are proposed. The recommendation on software design are made.

Proficy* CIMPLICITY 7.0 HMI/SCADA

GE Fanuc Automation launches CIMPLICITY 7.0, the enhanced product in HMI/SCADA range. CIMPLICITY 7.0 features new functionalities and tighter integration with Proficy family thus increasing the application efficiency. The paper focuses on safety, failure prevention and recovery, simplified project development, and improved interaction with CNC. CIMPLICITY 7.0 application enables development costs reduction and operations efficiency improvement.

Svyatov B.A., Golovachev N.P., Privalov O.E., Trapezin V.A. et. al. Automated

Within the modernization of continuous charge dosing systems operating at Aksu Ferroalloy Works, Tomsk Electronic Company in cooperation with Sibtenzopribor JSC has created a dosing train and a package process control system for the dosing department of the workshop # 3. The paper reviews basic engineering solutions implemented in the system, process control structure, and the attained benefits.

Lysenko O.N. DRS61 programmable incremental encoders

The paper continues the overview of new products presented by SICK-Stegmann, the encoders manufacturer. It presents a unique family of customer programmable incremental encoders where PPR – a key encoder’s parameter – can be specified by the end user.

Akinshin L.G. Kontron’s Intel Core Duo-based solutions and the correct interpretation of Moore’s Law

Today, embedded products with binuclear processor will hardly surprise anyone, though as recently as a year ago they were met as exotics. The first commercial systems removed all doubts: consuming practically the same electricity as the previous generation CPUs, Intel Core Duo caused an immense capacity leap along with the hardware support of visualization. Excellent functionalities of the new architecture fostered its fast dissemination in the embedded solutions segment despite its traditional conservatism.

Pustovetov Yu.A. Wireless networks for industrial enterprises: start at the beginning!

The advantages of wireless communication systems application at industrial plants are demonstrated. Based on ProSoft Technology’s experience, the recommendations to engineers starting the implementation of wireless communication at their plant are made.

Turck’s ultrasonic sensors overview

The paper discusses some common features of ultrasonic sensors and their operation principles with the example of Turck’s products.

Rudakova A. OVEN IP320 operator panel

Operational and technical data of OVEN IP320 operator panels launched by OVEN in the 2nd quarter of 2007 are presented. The toolkit included in IP320 Configurator software.

Housings: the world of designs

Yegorov E.V. The beauty of standard solutions

The paper overviews the housing and construct solutions market. Industrial automation OEMs are recommended to select the constructs from vendor catalogues. Nine types of design tasks are identified, for which a COT housing can be selected.

Mikhailov I.N. Special requirements to electronic equipment constructs for various applications

The paper overviews the housings and consoles for electronic and electromechanical equipment for critical applications described by national standards and guidelines.

Prokhorov A.I. Moving ahead: new products from BOPLA

New products from BOPLA supplied to Russian market are presented. These include BOS Streamline housings for mobile applications and Ecoline – the enhancement of BOCARD & BOS housing program.

Nikolaev A.F. Selecting membrane keyboard design or what specifications conceal

The paper presents basic design features of membrane keyboards: without tactile effect, with Mylar Dom tactile effect, and with Metal Dom tactile effect with/without key shaping. Comparative estimate of keyboard designs is included.

Vasiliev A.N., Dinghilevsky S.A. Universal housings

The paper overviews the products of Gainta – a major Taiwan-based vendor of housings for electronic equipment.

Haag V. Scaleable systems with MicroTCA

The AdvancedTCA specification published in 2002 was developed purposefully for the applications with higher requirements to equipment capacity. The approved new MicroTCA specification fits all systems with weakened requirements. The low form factor combined with flexibility, modularity, and scalability make MicroTCA an attractive alternative and reasonable supplement in telecommunications where proprietary solutions are increasingly replaced. This refers first of all to price-sensitive industrial applications.

On construct users and vendors

Merits and drawbacks of proprietary solutions vs. standard designs are discussed. The market demonstrates a wide range of commercial housings including the products from SANHE and GAINTA.
