Pertsovsky M.I., Rtishchev A.V.  An integrated real-time testing system for a complex plant: from theory to practice

All-round automation enables improved efficiency, equipment reliability and qualitatively higher level of equipment operation, but it requires higher developers' expertise and special tools and policies for users. The paper examines the theoretical background and practical implementation of test basis all-round automation with a case study of an airspace enterprise.

Keywords: all-round automation, management-information networks; measuring, test and prototype systems; sensors, synchronization.

Automation in Industry: Application Experience

Introduction

Bazhanov V.L.  Smith predictor for universal digital controllers

The paper addresses various needs. It briefly outlines Smith predictor's function, operation principle and benefits. A case study illustrating the predictor's practical use is included. Application experience gained at PORA-USWO Scientific and Production Company (Samara, Russia) may be useful for digital controller manufacturers apt to include predictor function in their products.

Keywords: closed-loop control, delayed control response, control performance, Smith predictor, predictive model, controller settings, predictor effect.

Malikov T.B., Potapkin M.O., Samus' S.V., Zozulya V.M., Simonov V.N.  An automated system for preparing metal-concrete spent nuclear fuel containers at Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant

The paper discusses the development experience of an automated control system for the preparation of metal-concrete spent nuclear fuel containers for dry nuclear waste storage at the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant. It outlines the process of moisture removal from containers, presents process diagram, describes the features of control system's hard-/software implementation.

Yakushkina L.A.  Automation of product cost calculation at Metiz Machine-Building Company

The case study describes the implementation of an integrated planning and accounting solution for discrete manufacturing. Operations requirements are discusses as well as software configuring features and business benefits for enterprise management.

Keywords: planning and accounting automation, discrete manufacturing, product cost calculation, specification.

Kremez A.S.  Development and application experience of computerized methods for professional psychological preparation of transportation system operators

It is well known that most of wrecks and incidents in industry and transport are caused by psychological reasons. Application of training systems simulating operator's workstation is not sufficient for proper personnel preparation. To decrease human factor risks in industry and transport, it makes sense to use automated systems for professional psychological preparation of operators. The paper discusses the problematic and describes the development and implementation of such approach for supporting the activities of power system dispatchers and engine drivers.

Keywords: operator, transport, human factor, psychology, testing, attention, stress tolerance, self-control of actions, training, automation of operator psychological preparation.

Syrkov A.V.  Development lines of automated highway structure maintenance systems

Risk analysis methodology enables a feasibility study of automation systems for highway structure maintenance including their condition monitoring. The paper shows that not only major structures with large spans, highness and other unique parameters, but a number of conventional artificial object with higher risk criticality as well are subject to furnishing with engineering structure monitoring systems. Future development lines and concepts for automation systems in this area are discussed.

Keywords: intelligent transportation systems, engineering structure monitoring systems, risk analysis, risk criticality, stationary and mobile systems.

Kudinov A.V., Markov N.G., Kapilevich O.L.  Estimating the efficiency of MES application in oil and gas company

Original procedures for estimating MES project efficiency in an oil and gas company production are described. The set of key performance indicators is estimating the implementation project efficiency is examined in detail. A software tool for KPI calculation is offered. The results of the developed KPI and software implementation in an oil and gas production company are presented.

Keywords: MES implementation efficiency estimates, trial operation, key performance indicators.

Yelizarov V.N., Marshalov A.A.  Multi-component batching system: modernization solutions using virtual tools

The experience of modernizing multi-component liquid batching systems at a bread-baking plant is discussed. A new approach to automated control system design based on virtual technologies is offered. Key design, programming and implementation phases for a control system based on Koyo DL 05 PLC and Weintek MT 6060iH touch panel are outlined.

Bil'feld N.V.  Adjustment of controller settings in process variables stabilization

The dependency of operation benefits on the integral control performance criterion is examined. The effect of controller settings on the integral criterion of transient performance is analyzeв for several control plants. A procedure of controller settings adjustment in process variables stabilization is offered.

Keywords: automatic controller, process variable stabilization, controller settings, multi-criterion research, integral performance criterion.

Anil Kumar Pandey Using hybrid electromagnetic simulation for signal integrity analysis of high-speed interconnects

Signal integrity analysis in high-speed digital devices is an important task of integrated system design. The paper describes the results of signal integrity analysis for SATA-USB interface converter obtained for an integrated system in the 0-5 GHz frequency range. It shows that combined application of system, circuit and EM simulators simplifies the traditionally complex task of signal integrity analysis. The approach proposed ensures exact results and reduces the design time.

Keywords: hybrid EM simulation, high-speed digital devices, signal integrity, interface converter.
