Rapid evolution of computer-on-module technology is currently determined first of all by higher speed (mainly owing to the massive application of multi-core processors), reduced power consumption and the advent of more compact form factors. The new SMARC specification for computers-on-module, which enabled the integration of COM concept with ARM processor architecture, was recently ratified. This opened up new opportunities for developing ultracompact embedded mobile equipment with a broad commercial outlook.
